Office of the Secretary General

 

Luis Fernando Andrade Falla took up the position of Secretary General of the ACS in March 2008 following his election by the Ministerial Council.

The Secretary General of the Association of Caribbean States is elected by the Ministerial Council for a four-year term, on the basis of rotation, from among the principal groupings that comprise the ACS: CARICOM, Central America, G-3 and the Non-Grouped countries.

As Chief Administrative Officer of the Association and the highest ranking authority within the Secretariat, the Secretary General is responsible mainly for developing and maintaining political and co-operation relations with Member Countries and Observers and strengthening institutional and cooperation relationships between the ACS and other third parties.
