Summits

The Summit is a crucial meeting for the discussion and analysis that will allow the Association of Caribbean States to be strengthened as the region’s valid representative.

The Summit is important for discussing the problems and challenges presented by the international agenda, but also serves as an opportunity to strengthen historical, economic, social and cultural ties among the peoples of the Caribbean with clear strategies and concrete initiatives, as expected and needed by Caribbean nations, but to also outline clear goals and specific objectives in order for those ties to continue contributing to the development of the Caribbean States.

During this meeting, Heads of State and/or Government the Draft Declaration of Panama outline the most relevant objectives and commitments to be adopted by the Caribbean leaders taking part in the Summit, as an ACS task for the coming years.

To a large extent, it is up to the representatives to ensure that the Declaration reflect the permanence of common values and objectives, and at the same time, the renewal and strengthening needed within the ACS.

the Declaration can outline more than just intentions and concerns, but also a political will that would translate into a new effort to draw the peoples of the Caribbean closer and to take full advantage of all their potentialities in order for them to achieve sustainable development.
