La Secretaria General de la AEC se Reúne con Altos Funcionarios del Gobierno de Cuba para abortar Temas Clave

Havana, Cuba – March 29, 2025 – In her first bilateral visit, the Secretary General of the ACS, Noemí Espinoza Madrid, held meetings with high-ranking officials of the Cuban government and representatives of the business sector, with the objective of addressing high-priority issues for the region.
During this mission, the Secretary General met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, H.E. Bruno Eduardo Rodríguez Parrilla. In this meeting, they addressed fundamental issues for the region, such as the preservation of the Caribbean Sea.
Likewise, she held a meeting with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Josefina de la Caridad Vidal Ferreiro, in which they discussed multilateral cooperation, the importance of greater representation of women and young people in social actors, and the strengthening of relations with CARICOM.
The Secretary General also met with the Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Environment (CITMA), José Fidel Santana Núñez. The support of CITMA was key to the realization of the project "Evaluation of the impact of climate change on the sandy coasts of the Caribbean: Alternatives for its control and resilience." The Secretary also visited the facilities of Gamma Inversiones S.A., a key company in the transfer of technical knowledge during the execution of this project.
In her meeting with Colonel Danai Rivera García, Head of Communications of the Civil Defense of Cuba, the Secretary General highlighted Cuba's leadership in climate-resilient urban planning and disaster-prepared infrastructure.
In the tourism sector, the Secretary General met with Deputy Minister Jorge Alberto García Domínguez, to discuss the challenges facing the industry.
Likewise, she held a meeting with the Deputy Minister of Transportation, H.E. Marcos Antonio Bermúdez de la Torre, in which they discussed the promotion of sustainable transportation initiatives for the region.
During her visit to the Chamber of Commerce of Cuba, the Secretary General met with its president, Mr. Antonio Carricarte Corona, with whom she exchanged ideas on the importance of digitalization to improve competitiveness and business operability in the region.
Finally, in her meeting with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, H.E. Lázaro Artola Madrazo, they addressed the promotion of public-private partnerships (PPP) in key sectors such as agriculture, food security, and sustainable manufacturing, within the ACS Sustainable Economic Development Agenda.
As a result of this mission, the political collaboration and cooperation ties between the ACS and Cuba were reaffirmed.
