Greater Caribbean Unity: ACS and CARICOM Set the Course for Closer Cooperation

Brasília, 14 June 2025 – On the margins of the Brazil–Caribbean Summit, the Secretary-General of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS), H.E. Ambassador Noemí Espinoza Madrid, met with the Secretary-General of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), Dr. Carla Barnett, to explore pathways for stronger institutional collaboration between the ACS and CARICOM.
Also participating were the Chair of CARICOM’s Council for Foreign and Community Relations (COFCOR), the Right Honourable Dr. Denzil L. Douglas, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Trade, Industry & Commerce, Consumer Affairs, Economic Development and Investment of Saint Kitts and Nevis, and the Right Honourable Alva Baptiste, Minister for External Affairs of Saint Lucia. Their presence reaffirmed the deep political commitment to advancing Caribbean-led solutions through coordinated regional action.
The meeting centered on how both organizations can strengthen their collaboration to build a more unified, resilient, and globally strategic Greater Caribbean, better equipped to address the most pressing challenges facing the region. Deepening multilateral cooperation will enable regional mechanisms such as the ACS and CARICOM to complement each other more effectively and deliver meaningful, people-centered outcomes.
