ACS and Brazil Strengthen Ties with a Technical Cooperation Agreement

Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago – Her Excellency Noemi Espinoza Madrid, Secretary-General of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS), hosted a bilateral meeting with His Excellency Ambassador Mauro Vieira, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federative Republic of Brazil, and an official Brazilian delegation on January 21, 2025.

A key highlight of the meeting was the signing of a Basic Agreement on Technical Cooperation, marking a significant milestone in fostering collaboration between the ACS and Brazil. The agreement paves the way for enhanced South-South cooperation and a shared commitment to advancing regional development in critical areas.

During the meeting, Secretary-General Espinoza underlined the strategic importance of Brazil's contributions to South-South cooperation, emphasizing the value of collaboration in addressing regional challenges.

Ambassador Mauro Vieira reiterated Brazil’s interest in supporting the Greater Caribbean in priority areas such as Climate Change and Food Security, recognizing the importance of unified action in the face of global challenges.

The signing of this agreement highlights the mutual dedication of the ACS and Brazil to fostering meaningful partnerships that drive sustainable development, strengthen disaster risk reduction efforts, and enhance regional resilience within the Greater Caribbean. This collaboration reflects a shared vision to address common challenges and create a more sustainable and unified future for the region.
