Centre for the Promotion of Language and Cultures for the Greater Caribbean
Minimising linguistic barriers as well as promoting better knowledge of the various cultures of the Greater Caribbean, in order to facilitate and improve regional co-operation is imperative. The Project for the establishment of the Centre for the Promotion of Languages and Cultures of the Greater Caribbean (CPLC), is one of the main initiatives in this context and the DST continues to coordinate efforts for the establishment of the English, French and Spanish Centres of Excellence in respectively Trinidad and Tobago, Guadeloupe and Venezuela, which will complete the initial structure of the CPLC.
Linguistic diversity is of paramount importance in the current context of rapidly-expanding tourism and in order to guarantee effective participation in the global economy, linguistic diversity, as one of the obstacles affecting regional cooperation between ACS Member States and Associate Members, needs to be addressed.
