WORKSHOP FOR THE DEVELOPMENT AND STRENGTHENING OF MSMES IN THE REGION

With the aim of promoting trade opportunities that MSMEs from the ACS Member Countries can offer, and in order to facilitate the creation of regional value chains which allow for a better, more successful integration with the rest of the world, the Association of Caribbean States (ACS) in conjunction with the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Tourism of the Republic of Colombia, the Colombian Presidential Agency of International Cooperation and the Bogota Chamber of Commerce hosted the “Workshop for the Development and Strengthening of MSMEs in the Caribbean Region”. This took place from 28th – 30th September, 2016 in the city of Bogota, Colombia with the participation of eight (8) ACS Member States: Aruba, Cuba, Guyana, Dominican Republic, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia. St Vincent and the Grenadines and Trinidad and Tobago. On behalf of the ACS, the Association was represented by Alberto Duran – Director for Trade Development and External Economic Relations, Veronica Gonzalez – Trade Advisor and Ingrid Jacobs – Special Fund Manager. This training was aimed at introducing participants to the Colombian model, its policies to support SMEs and the work currently being carried out for the development and strengthening of that sector in Colombia.
