Official Virtual Launch of the 14th ACS Business Forum

OFFCIAL VIRTUAL LAUNCH OF THE 14th EDITION OF THE ACS BUSINESS FORUM 2021

The Association of Caribbean States in collaboration with the Republic of Nicaragua, today, 15th October 2021, officially launched the 14th edition of the ACS Business Forum of the Greater Caribbean. This event was held with the Speeches from Public Officials from the Greater Caribbean in the areas of responsibility of the Directorate for Trade and Sustainable Development.

The launch attracted many participants comprising of both public and private sector stakeholders and organisations throughout the region. Remarks were given by the Secretary General of the ACS, Rodolfo Sabonge; the ACS Director of the Directorate for Trade and Sustainable Development Safiya Horne-Bique, who espoused the same optimism for the future of the business region in the Greater Caribbean region and highlighted the importance of the forum while encouraging participation in the Forum to be held on the 24th and 25th November, virtually.

Other contributions were given by the Senator Dr. The Hon. Jerome Xavier Walcott, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Barbados, and Efraín Guadarrama Pérez, General Director of American Regional Organizations and Mechanisms of the Under-Secretariat for Latin America and the Caribbean of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs who all underscored the importance for stronger regional collaboration amongst the public and private sectors within the region. His Excellency Orlando Solórzano, Minister of Development, Industry and Commerce of the Republic of Nicaragua gave the feature address as the representative of the host country.

The speakers expressed their ideas and hopes for a more resilient and interconnected business environment within the region to improve the quality of the workforce and for the creation of a stronger entrepreneurial spirit so that benefits can be equitably shared by all.

The ACS is pleased to be part of this regional cooperative effort and remains committed to its actions within its mandate for the continued engagement and development of the Greater Caribbean region.
