The republic of Honduras in Central America is bordered by Guatemala, El Salvador and Nicaragua and has a long Caribbean coastline and a small outlet to the Pacific. The capital is Tegucigalpa. Bananas and coffee together account for just over half of export earnings and the agriculture, forestry and fishing sectors employs approximately 43 per cent of the workforce and contributes a quarter of the GDP. Industry employs a fifth of the workforce and contributes 29 per cent of GDP, while the services sector employs 37 per cent of the workforce and contributes 46 per cent of GDP.
