The Republic of Guyana is located on the northeast coast of South America between Venezuela and Suriname. The capital is Georgetown and sugar, gold, bauxite and rice are the principal exports. The agriculture, forestry and fishing sector employs approximately one-fifth of the workforce and contributes 41 per cent of GDP. Industry employs around one-quarter of the workforce and contributes 32 per cent of GDP, while the services sector accounts for 55 per cent of employment and 27 per cent of GDP.
