The Republic of Guatemala in Central America is bordered by Mexico, Belize, Honduras and El Salvador. It has a small Caribbean coast and a longer Pacific coast. The capital is Guatemala City and coffee accounts for nearly a quarter of export earnings. Exports of bananas and sugar are also important and the agriculture, forestry and fishing sector employs approximately 42 per cent of the workforce and contributes 22,5% of GDP. Industry employs 22 per cent of the workforce and contributes 20 per cent of GDP, while the services sector employs 36 per cent of the workforce and contributes 57,5% of GDP.
