Port of Spain (March 31, 2009) –  Association of Caribbean States (ACS) Secretary General, Ambassador Luis Fernando Andrade Falla received a courtesy visit on 25 March 2009 from HE Marjatti Rasi, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Finland at the ACS Secretariat in Port of Spain, Trinidad.

Vice Minister Rasi was accompanied by the Ambassador of the Embassy of Finland in Caracas, Ambassador Mikko Pyhälä, while the ACS Political Advisor, Dr Watson Denis accompanied the Secretary General at the meeting.

This courtesy visit follows a meeting between the ACS Secretary General and Foreign Minister Alexander Stubb in Finland, January 2009 which included discussions on opportunities to increase and deepen cooperation between Finland and the ACS.

Ambassador Andrade acknowledged Finland’s great interest in the work of the ACS and expressed his appreciation for Finland’s facilitation in establishing links between the Baltic Sea and the Caribbean Sea Commissions.

Finland has been an Observer Country of the Association of Caribbean States since 2003.
