NR/013/2005 TURKEY MAKES FIFTH DONATION TO ACS
Since its admission as Observer Country to the ACS in December 2000, the Republic of Turkey has made annual contributions to the ACS, generously donating, to date, more than US$55,000, a reflection of the Turkish government’s solidarity with the people of the Greater Caribbean. Also in attendance at this meeting were Ambassador Aydin Sahinbas, who came to Panama from Ankara, Turkey, to meet with the ACS SG, and Mr. Juan Fernando Valey, Adviser in Natural Disasters and Transport. The Turkish delegation was presented with copies of the latest CD Rom produced by the Natural Disasters Directorate, “Workshop on Experiences in Disaster Management”, which was sponsored in part by fund provided by the Republic of Turkey. This latest contribution will be used to support the implementation of a project in the field of Natural Disasters. About the ACS The Association of Caribbean States is the organisation for consultation, cooperation and concerted action in trade, transport, sustainable tourism and natural disasters in the Greater Caribbean.
