| NR/012/2005 ACS NEWS RELEASE ACS AND CEPREDENAC UNITE TO REDUCE REGION’S VULNERABILITY TO DISASTERS
This MOU sets forth the basic principles and guidelines under which the two institutions will work together to develop activities related to research, consultation, the implementation of projects and programmes, the exchange of experts and the organisation of seminars. CEPREDENAC is a coordination centre that works towards strengthening Central America’s capacity to reduce its vulnerability to the effects of natural disasters, a mission that falls in line with that of the ACS Special Committee on Natural Disasters, which is to facilitate tools to strengthen national organisations in the prevention and mitigation of natural disasters. About the ACS The Association of Caribbean States is the organisation for consultation, cooperation and concerted action in trade, transport, sustainable tourism and natural disasters in the Greater Caribbean. Its Member States are Antigua & Barbuda, The Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Grenada, Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Mexico, Jamaica, Nicaragua, Panama, St. Kitts & Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, Suriname, Trinidad & Tobago and Venezuela.
