NR/010/2005 DECLARATION DEBATE: DAY 2 Today, July 27, 2005, ACS Member States begin their second day of deliberations, concentrating on the draft Declaration of Panama, the document that will guide the future of the organisation, and which underscores Members’ concern for issues of regional and global importance, such as disaster risk reduction, sustainable tourism development, the dismantling of obstacles to trade, the fight against HIV/AIDS and the elimination of hunger and poverty. Delegates will put the finishing touches on the Declaration today, in readiness for Ministers’ approval tomorrow, July 28, before it is passed to the Heads of State and/or Government at Friday’s Summit for signature. About the ACS The Association of Caribbean States is the organisation for consultation, cooperation and concerted action in trade, transport, sustainable tourism and natural disasters in the Greater Caribbean.
