ADMISSION OF THE REPUBLIC OF KOREA AS AN OBSERVER TO THE ASSOCIATION OF CARIBBEAN STATES

The Ministerial Council,

Pursuant to:

  1. Articles V and IX, paragraph c of the Convention establishing the Association.
  2. Agreement No. 4/95 of the Ministerial Council, which adopts the Terms and Conditions governing the participation of Observers in the Sessions of the Ministerial Council and the Special Committees of the Association.

Considering that:

The Republic of Korea has officially expressed to the Association of Caribbean States, its interest in participating as an Observer;

The Republic of Korea wishes to broaden and strengthen friendly and integration relations with all ACS Member States,

Co-operation must be based on objectives and principles of the Association and the parameters established for this purpose in Agreement 4/96 of the Ministerial Council.

Hereby agrees to:

  1. Admit the Republic of Korea as an Observer in the Association of Caribbean States. This country’s participation shall be in accordance with the provisions of the Convention establishing the Association of Caribbean States and the Terms and Conditions for Participation of Observers in the Plenary Sessions of the Ministerial Council and the Special Committees of the Association.
  2. Invite the Government of the Republic of Korea to make financial and other contributions to the ACS, according to the provisions of Article 9 of Annex I of Agreement No. 4/95, and to instruct the Secretary General in order to strengthen and improve the relations with the said Government with a view to promoting the respective contributions.
