ADMISSION OF THE ARAB REPUBLIC OF EGYPT AS OBSERVER
TO THE ASSOCIATION OF CARIBBEAN STATES
The Ministerial Council,
Pursuant to:
- Articles V and IX, item (c) of the Convention Establishing the ACS;
- Agreement No. 4/95 approved by the Ministerial Council at its First Ordinary Meeting in Guatemala City, Guatemala, on December 1, 1995;
Whereas:
The Arab Republic of Egypt has officially expressed to the Association of Caribbean States its interest in participating as Observer;
The Arab Republic of Egypt has traditionally maintained the most cordial relations and very close ties with the countries of the region;
The participation of the Arab Republic of Egypt will enrich the work of the Association of Caribbean States;
Co-operation must be based on the principles and objectives of the Association and the parameters established in that regard in Agreement No. 4/96.
Hereby Agrees:
- To admit the Arab Republic of Egypt as Observer to the Association of Caribbean States. Egypt’s participation shall be in keeping with the provisions of the Convention Establishing the Association of Caribbean States and the Terms and Conditions governing the Participation of Observers in the Open Sessions of the Ministerial Council and of the Special Committees.
- To invite the Government of the Arab Republic of Egypt to make financial, technical and other contributions to the Association, in accordance with Article 9 of Annex 1 of Agreement No. 4/95, and to instruct the Secretary-General to treat with said Government in order to determine the terms under which these contributions are to be made.
