AGREEMENT ON THE COMPOSITION OF THE EXECUTIVE BOARDS

OF THE SPECIAL COMMITTEES AND SPECIAL GROUPS

 

The Ministerial Council,

Pursuant to:

1. Article VIII, item 3 of the Convention Establishing the Association of Caribbean

States;

2. Agreement No. 7/95 approved by the Ministerial Council at the First Ordinary Meeting, held in Guatemala on 1 December 1995;

 

Hereby Agrees:

  1. The Executive Boards of the Special Committees, which include a Chairman, a Vice Chairman and a Rapporteur, will comprise representatives of Members of the Association, as indicated below :

  1. Trade Development and External Economic Relations

Chairman: Colombia - Dr. Felipe Jaramillo

Vice-Chairman: El Salvador - Mr. Héctor Dada Sánchez

Rapporteur: Trinidad & Tobago - Ms. Razia Ali

  1. Protection and Conservation of the Environment and the Caribbean Sea, and Natural Resources

Chairman: Jamaica - Mr. Thorant Hardware

Vice-Chairman: Dominican Republic - Mr.Miguel Martínez Guridy

Rapporteur: Honduras - Mr. Jerónimo Sandoval

  1. Science, Technology, Education, Health and Culture

Chairman: Cuba - Dr. Ismael Clark Arxer

Vice-Chairman: Honduras - Dr. Ramón Espinoza

Rapporteur: Venezuela - Mr. Marco Miliani

2. The Executive Board of the Special Group on Natural Disasters, established by Agreement No. 3/96 adopted by the Ministerial Council at its meeting in Havana, Cuba, in December 1996, will comprise representatives of the following Members of the Association:

Chairman: Panama - Dr. Roberto Velásquez

Vice-Chairman: Jamaica - Dr. Barbara Carby

Rapporteur: Mexico - Mr. Luis Enrique Gutiérrez

3. The Executive Board of the ACS Special Fund, in accordance with the decision of the Council of National Representatives of the Special Fund taken at its Second Meeting held in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia, on November 26, 1997, will comprise the following representatives of Members of the Association:

Chairman: Colombia - Dr. Felipe Jaramillo

1st Vice-Chairman: Grenada - Mr. Garvey Louison

2nd Vice-Chairman: Dominican Republic - Ambassador Maritza Amalia Guerrero

3rd Vice-Chairman: Guatemala - Mr. Juan Fernando Valey

Rapporteur: Mexico - Ambassador Alfredo Pérez Bravo

  1. The composition of the Executive Boards covered by this Agreement will be valid for a period of one year, from the close of the Third Ordinary Meeting of the Ministerial Council to the close of the Fourth Ordinary Meeting of the Ministerial Council.

5. The Executive Board of the Special Fund will be elected every year by the Council of National Representatives of the Special Fund, in accordance with the Operational Rules of the Special Fund.
